Did you know that cinnamon trees actually grow wild in Japan?
This time, the Japan Herb Research Institute traveled to Okinawa to discover a secret tree discovered in the deep forests of northern Okinawa. This time, we transformed Okinawa's Ryukyu cinnamon into a shining golden liquor. Ryukyu cinnamon has been treasured since the dynasty era and is a highly esteemed fragrant tree that was not even presented to China. Its sweet and spicy aroma rivals that of Ceylon cinnamon. Known as "karaki" in Okinawa, it is enjoyed soaked in awamori or chilled in zenzai (sweet red bean soup). Currently, many people in the northern region are working hard to promote karaki cultivation and spread its appeal to Japan and the world. Inspired by the "karaki sake" made by local people long ago by steeping karaki leaves in awamori, the Japan Herb Research Institute has created a spirit with a concentrated, elegant, sweet aroma. Enjoy the flavor of this spirit, made with generous amounts of karaki leaves, a rare and almost mystical tree rarely available on the market. The label features artwork featuring the beautiful bark of the karaki tree.
